My fav setting powders 2018

Hi guys!

New beauty tips! Setting powder is an essential step in makeup lovers: as the name implies, goes on after your foundation to get rid of shine and “set” it in place for a long lasting effect. This sets concealer and foundation very well and crack free for hours and stops you from feeling like a chicken wing, also provide a smooth surface on which to apply products such as blush, highlighter, bronzer... We have different forms: loose/compact and are either tinted/translucent. A simple solution to a lot of little beauty problems, all while leaving your skin looking bare and smooth.

But which setting powder is best? I tend to really blend and work the foundation into the skin with a blending brush until it feels one with the skin, so it doesn't feel like it's sitting on top of it as a separate entity. If any areas still feel too heavy, I prefer to pat down with a sponge to absorb any excess moisture before applying powder. Only way to apply setting powder is to press it into your skin while your foundation is still wet. You should press powder onto your skin with a flat-shaped brush or powder puff. Pressing it on will prevent the foundation from moving around or streaking in the process. It also allows the foundation to set better so it stays on all day.

There are plenty of options to choose from. I kept my focus strictly on setting powders that will conceal pores instantly, with just a gentle brush here and dusting there. Let's go to see my mini reviews, hope they can help you.

Laura Mercier loose setting powder
The Laura Mercier's loose setting powder, dubbed a "Holy Grail" by beauty enthusiasts, has been around for years, supporters became even more obsessed with it, and that hype successfully trickled down to the rock dwellers, like me. The super lightweight finish of this powder makes it a beauty stash staple. It not only camouflages pores, but blurs fine lines and other imperfections too.

Kat Von D lock it setting powder

A weightless translucent loose powder, formulated with Micro-Blurring TechnologyTM, to set and perfect for a flawless, locked-in finish. Kat Von D's innovative formula uses delicate mica powders rather than the heavy, chalky binding ingredients found in other powders-reducing the weight by 30%. This prevents the dry, chalky finish most powders leave behind, and instead delivers a perfectly smooth, seamless look, with the same number of uses. Formulated to be undetectable on all skintones.

NARS light reflecting loose setting powder

Containing NARS exclusive Light Reflecting Complex, this translucent powder optimizes light reflection on the skin, optically fading fine lines, wrinkles, and pores as skin is visibly smoothed. Vitamin E and glycerin help guard against dryness and provide a luminous soft matte finish. Ideal for touch-ups, regulating shine and seamlessly setting foundation.

Derma Blend loose setting powder

Transparent and light on application, forms a protective film on the surface of the skin. The two corrective foundation products become water, sweat and smudge resistant. Matt, natural and velvety finishThe translucent, waterproof powder stays put for 16 hours and never cakes. It also comes with Vichy label, at least in Spain.

Makeup gets more complicated as years pass, doesn't it? But, look at the bright side: this happens because of easy access to makeup tutorials on blogs and YouTube (hello, I'm guilty). You will definitely learn it with patience and dedication. At least now, for starters, you already know how setting powder differs from other types of face powders. Hope you enjoy!

  23. Such a lovely post - I really love setting powders as they give skin such a beautiful look depending on the type look you're going for. I personally love setting powders to help blend / set make-up. In summer months, I tend to use a little it of concealer and settling powered just to smooth skin....

    Lovely selection!
